If you think you may have a bladder infection (urinary tract infection – UTI), the pharmacists at Mercury Bay Pharmacy may be able to provide advice and treatment options following a consultation.
Common symptoms of a UTI may include:
Pain or burning when passing urine
Needing to urinate more often than usual
Urgency to urinate
Discomfort in the lower abdomen or pelvic area
Following a consultation, the pharmacist may be able to supply a short course of the antibiotic trimethoprim, if it is clinically appropriate.
Eligibility
Pharmacist supply may be available for:
Women aged 16 to 65 years
Those who are not currently pregnant
People experiencing symptoms consistent with an uncomplicated urinary tract infection
If your symptoms are not suitable for pharmacist treatment, the pharmacist may recommend that you see a doctor for further assessment.
