Health Consultations with a Pharmacist
At Mercury Bay Pharmacy, you can speak with one of our pharmacists for health advice and treatment options for certain minor health conditions.
During a consultation, the pharmacist will assess your symptoms and discuss appropriate treatment options. In some cases, the pharmacist may supply medicines if this is appropriate, or recommend that you see your doctor or another healthcare provider if further assessment is needed.
Conditions the pharmacist may help with
Our pharmacists may be able to assist with symptoms relating to:
Pain and fever
Diarrhoea, vomiting, and dehydration
Eye infections
Skin infections
Eczema or dermatitis
Scabies
Head lice (also known as nits, kutis, kutu bugs, utu, or riha)
Consultations and any medicines supplied may be free for eligible patients.
Who is eligible for the free service?
Free consultations may be available for:
All Māori and Pacific people
All children under 14 years of age
Whānau members of a child with similar symptoms*
Community Services Card (CSC) holders
*For example, if a child is assessed and treated for scabies, the pharmacist may also provide advice and treatment options for other household members with similar symptoms, where appropriate.
If you are not eligible for the free service
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, our pharmacists can still provide health advice, discuss treatment options, and advise whether you should see a doctor or another healthcare provider.
